An Adventure in Years

As another Lame Cherry exclusive in matter anti matter.

I have an attraction which began with being deprived of apple trees when I was a child and my Grandpa had them. I remember the time he pruned a crab apple and pruned himself in slitting his wrist. Gram wrapped her dirty chicken shit apron around it, we drove home and they dumped a bottle of Mercurochrome in the wrist. Grandpa went white and almost passed out.

Every time satan destroys my apple trees, I swear I will not do this again, and today I was back at it in ordering some exotic and unheard of trees for the Brier.  I hope to put them on Grandpas as that place is in dire need of some quality fruit trees.

They are varieties no one would recognize. A gold one from Quebec, one from Alaska, one from England and one just happened to be sweet, took storage so it ended up on the list. I would have the same lust for peach trees but it is too cold here for peaches which is something Jesus coming back will rectify.

I have always loved fruiting anything, and is why I grow vines like watermelon, muskmelon and tomatoes as we had such a hard time growing them here, that in most cases, you just grew the vines and never got any fruit. Honestly it was not until I started gardening that we got anything for melons. My dead brother liked the seed catalogues but I do not ever remember him doing any real gardening at home. He did some after he left and was good at it, but he was more buying plants and putting them out. For me it was growing from seeds as the wonders of that still make me have a warm smile on my face.

So come May, I will be digging holes again and planting more apple trees. I look at trees and I always hope that in Jesus 1000 years that there will be orchards of them, like every apple that ever appeared and all of these new pips sprouting new trees never tasted before and I will get to eat them all and marvel at the genetics God hid away in apple seeds, peach seeds, all kinds of seeds as while the map DNA, it appears an infinite number of genetics from seeds in what will come out of them in human hands.

Some of my gems might not be so gems according to sources, but I need apples to cook with too and apples that are tart, you hand to people and they bite into them and never ask for an apple again, so they leave your good trees alone.

It is what apple hunting is. An adventure in years.
