I had always been puzzled in how the television for flyover Americans as Aubrey scorned them changed so abruptly in reviewing the history of television, as one year you had Westerns, comedies and action, and the next year everything was like that shit Lou Grant and Cagney and Lacey liberal fat globs that no one wanted to watch.
It went from families in Mayberry to One Day at a Time divorces. It was culture shock and America was shocked. Comedies were gone and instead viewers were raped by “situation comedies” which were torture compared to the fun of Lucille Ball.
All of this goes to the rich assholes who hate America putting on television the shit they like. You saw this later on Fox in great shows like Firefly taken off after a year along with Doll House as the suits never gave great programs a chance.
CBS was the start of this after Aubrey in Paper Chase was a great show, but it never made it along with others as the suits wanted intellectual shows, but only shows that were liberal which whined and complained like All in the Family with Meathead Reiner and Carroll O’Conner two dripping liberals.
This may not matter to you, but it has always puzzled me in how entertaining shows vanished. The reason was the one person who made shows for people he despised was fired and the liberals put their misery into all of television and destroyed it.
That is why Desilu for NBC made Star Trek a classic, and every spin off afterwards is a shit pile of stupidity. The suits who despised Americans were making television as unlikeable as their souls.
