Pere Lacombe

In a time before borders in the west between Canada and these United States, there was born a boy in Quebec named Pere Lacombe who like many of his race who survived the old regime in the French children raised barefoot in the snow with only a tunic, that produced an American people of such vitality that future generations still benefit from the weak dying and the strong surviving.

The French are unknown to most Americans and relegated to "trying to ignore them" in Canada, because the Scots of Canada would prevail with British rule and the Americans of the English, Scot and Irish ancestry would sweep into vistas once established by the French voyageur.

It was not that the French were explorers, but the French simply were not a people who would settle on farms. They were the hunter, the trapper, the soul who searched to the next horizon.........not for wealth, but the wealth of liberty in life.

The French Americans were unique in they did not have 40 acre or 160 acre square farms like the English established. They instead had a more Republican form of representation on their lands in their farms were long narrow strips of land. Each farm would border a river providing water and ease of trade, the trees would provide lumber and the hills pasture, with the flat plains the farmland for gardens..........as the French of what would be Illinois had not much use for record crops or any other trappings of labor. They were just the free French and in the region from DeSmet to Duluth to Pierre, their names and their children still echo that distant past, when it was not American English who were over the western United States, but French Canadians who were the majority.

America then was a borderless area literally. It was spoken of from the Missouri to the McKenzie Rivers and the great buffalo herds were not the southern and northern herds, but the herd which stretched west from Pembina on the Red River to the Rockies.

It was in this that Pere Lacombe was given from his parish Priest the money to attend college. The Priest asked nothing of the boy except that he be "good".
Lacombe pondered that in his mind in how to be good, as he was a very athletic young man and decided upon his education with the Oblates of Montreal.

The Oblates were and are thee most successful evangelists in the world in while the Jesuit of the Ohio perished, the Oblates of the frontier in the black robes exposed 40,000 savages to the salvation of Christ.
This was not some Mexican padre preying upon the peon living in a mission, but this was Lacombe riding the rapids in a canoe by his own paddle, riding the bronco untamed, and traversing the vast wilderness which had only the trader of furs dealing with the Indians.

It is the greatest shame in what the Catholic religion was subjected to in pedophiles had infiltrated it to prey on children, because the liberal press is all to willing to brand all Catholics as either backward in believing in a God or the equal to the championed liberal perverts of media and politics. This is not the case of the Priests of of the Oblates who for a generation literally tended the Cree and Blackfeet in small pox epidemics as Lacombe did and actually stopped genocidal wars, by being a part of them.

Lacombe was camped with the Blackfeet one winter of 40 below and blizzard was raging when the Cree attacked. A squaw was shot down in front of him in the night splattering blood on him. A Cree was shot while looting Lacombes bedding.
The tipis were blown away and wave after wave of battle filled the night as the lines ebbed and flowed as the priest urged the Blackfeet to hold their ground or they all would be massacred.

In the cold dawn Lacombe would venture forth under a white flag, holding his cross above him to the Cree lines. The Blackfeet screamed for him not to go, as bullets snapped around the Priest and one eventually striking the ground came up and hit him in the shoulder and across his face.
The Priest staggered, but came to his feet, and with that the Blackfeet survivors rushed at the Cree screaming that the Cree had shot their Laccombe.

The Cree were stunned as Lacombe was hidden in the smoke and it was he who had nursed them to health during the previous small pox outbreak.

In that the battle was ended, the Cree left and the next day Lacombe went to another Blackfeet camp, and the next day, given an escort of 3 warriors he walked wounded to the fort for his recovery.....or more to the point to leave shortly thereafter to go to the Cree and tell them that this was not the way to follow.

In 1900, the name Pere Lacombe was known throughout all Canada with a veneration he had earned being a messenger of Jesus the Christ. The shame is on liberals who have rooted out in both Canada and America the traces of these heroic leaders of Faith who shaped and formed North America for the good of all.

"When I first went west and joined the hunt for the buffalo.........."

Over a century ago, and in that a respect which has become a disrespect by the liberals has wiped out one of the greatest heroes of North America in Pere Lacombe.

Liberals enjoy blaming the Catholic church for the world's problems, but the liberal never stops to consider if Pere Lacombe had not been removed from educating American and Canadian children in all he was in a fighter, none of those pedophiles would have lasted as long as they did in a hushed liberal excuse for deviancy in society which protected the predator while hunted the people of God.

The French Canadian was American rugged individual in taking care of themselves. They were taught from birth in man and woman to weave their own cloth, make their own hat, spin their own wool, tan the leather for their boots, disdain for manufactured stoves in building their own of clay, to catch their own fish...........and above every hearth hung a rifle of the hunter to bring fresh meat to the table.

It was not Catholics who created a society of pedophiles, but liberals in society who created the predators who invaded the Catholic religion, because morality was removed from society and God cast away.

Pere Lacombe is to be remembered, because he as a Christian Conservative accomplished more good in God's Grace in a few years than every liberal who took up space on this planet and will ever take up space on this planet ever will.

It is a matter of what is right in standing with God and morals, and disgrace of being of the left.
