The way I know I've heard it slam a hundred times before
I think of the sh*t people have to put up with in life. I think about it as being sh*t on appears a too often vocation for me in someone always knows better with some remark.
I detest country music, as it has not been music for a generation, but a medley of sounds of no talent Conway Twitty washouts who are the nameless tripe as Rock now has.
I appreciate though Mel Tillis as all reading this will not know the things about him which have been the worst of things. Most know that Tillis stutters horridly and he actually made joke of it on Hee Haw, but you do not know that Tillis started out in his big break on the Glenn Campbell Show.
Glenn is one of the best ear muscians in the world and a natural talent and his show appeared after his singing some fantatic songs like Witchita Lineman and Galveston.
On that program a man appeared name Mel Tillis, and of course Mel was stuttering. In the archives of that show, you will not believe the hell that program got from the future Obama voters making hell over this issue in thinking Tillis making fun of people.
A most sincere Campbell appeared on his show and took the time to explain the situation with Mel Tillis, in what was thee most ridiculous of situations in a person for a handicap was being bashed about by a bunch of thoughtless know it alls jumping to conclusions.
Mel Tillis rose to entertainment heights years later, but my favorite work of his is Ruby, and it is one of the best songs ever produced and it was sung by Kenny Rogers when he was doing his best work on the rock stage in 1969.
Yes Kenny Rogers actually had a career before that crap he sang in country singing in a band.
In that I post the haunting poetry of Mel Tillis, about a war Veteran whose shattered body brings him home, while the wife he loves is going out to bars to whore, as she can not even wait for her husband to die which will come soon enough from his injuries.
Ruby
You've painted up your lips and rolled and curled your tinted hair
Ruby are you contemplating going out somewhere?
The shadow on the wall tells me the sun is going down
Oh Ruby, don't take your love to town
It wasn't me that started that old crazy Asian war
But I was proud to go and do my patriotic chore
And yes, it's true that I'm not the man I used to be
Oh Ruby, I still need some company
It's hard to love a man whose legs are bent and paralyzed
And the wants and the needs of a woman your age, Ruby, I realize
But it won't be long, I've heard them say until I'm not around
Oh Ruby, don't take your love to town
She's leaving now 'cause I just heard the slamming of the door
The way I know I've heard it slam a hundred times before
And if I could move, I'd get my gun and put her in the ground
Oh Ruby, don't take your love to town
Oh Ruby, for God's sake turn around
