William Adolphe Bouguereau

Work Interrupted

Sometimes in this blog, I make discoveries to offset all the ugliness of this world in need of Judgment. One such event, I share along with Alice in Wonderland or Friedrich von Schiller is a French artist of the 1800's in William Adolphe Bouguereau.

William-Adolphe Bouguereau (November 30, 1825 - August 19, 1905) was a French academic painter. Bouguereau was a staunch traditionalist whose realistic genre paintings and mythological themes were modern interpretations of Classical subjects with a heavy emphasis on the female human body.

Although he created an idealized world, his almost photo-realistic style was popular with rich art patrons.

Although he created an idealized world, his almost photo-realistic style was popular with rich art patrons. He was very famous in his time but today his subject matter and technique receive relatively little attention compared to the popularity of the Impressionists.

He saw Beauty in this world, and was a real artist, unlike that Rockwell or Warhol garbage which permeates collections.

These are a sample of his work in the complete God's Sacred Beauty of the female form. I have featured several of his works previously and here extoll the work for all to know.

Regrettably this prolific painter never did a portrait of Joan of Arc.

If You missed the reality, this could be the same model over her entire life from childhood, teenage years, to adulthood, in all forms of feminine pristine sacredity in full circle of life from the child to the mother with child.
