Nailed to the Wall

As a Lame Cherry exclusive in matter anti matter.

I have decided that there must be a simple and exact teaching for all Christians to learn, contemplate and review, as to why they are Christians in the Faith. All religion has in it false teaching or doctrine. For that reason, I place here, a reality which should indeed be saved, printed if possible in booklet form for weekly review.

I base this upon the Catechism of Dr. Martin Luther, the Protestant whom God rose up to set all Christians free from the Vatican and state religion to come to God personally and learn of Him through Scripture.

There is one problem with Dr. Luther's Catechism and that is the 2nd Commandment has been left out and two "not covet" Commandments are incorrectly placed at the end.
In the Table Talk of Martin Luther after his death, the 10 Commandments are explained correctly, but in the Catechism they are listed incorrectly. I have in this listing corrected this according to Scripture. I do not know the source of this, but I have doubt that Luther did this after death, but that this was the hand of someone in authority who like graven images.
I will list the 10 Commandments as they appear in Scipture in Deuteronomy chapter 5 as Source, so there will be no question as to numeration nor it being Biblical.

The 6th Commandment has been listed as Thou shalt not murder, as every Christian has the right to defend themselves, every people to make war and every government to execute criminals after fair trial. Killing is a proven mandate by God to His people.

With that explanation, I place before you the Doctrine which all Christians should memorize as rigorously stipulated by Dr. Luther. We are ordered to search the Scriptures and the pray without ceasing. A Christian is a Christian in yearning heart prayer in constant contact with God and a Christian is someone who does not have dust on their Bible. A Christian is in daily relationship with God, and not one who sits for an hour in a pew on Sunday or only finds time for God when a calamity befalls them every decade.

SHORT PREFACE OF DR. MARTIN LUTHER.

This sermon is designed and undertaken that it might be an instruction for children and the simple-minded. Hence of old it was called in Greek catechism, i.e., instruction for children, what every Christian must needs know, so that he who does not know this could not be numbered with the Christians nor be admitted to any Sacrament, just as a mechanic who does not understand the rules and customs of his trade is expelled and considered incapable.

Therefore we must have the young learn the parts which belong to the Catechism or instruction for children well and fluently and diligently exercise themselves in them and keep them occupied with them.

Therefore it is the duty of every father of a family to question and examine his children and servants at least once a week and to ascertain what they know of it, or are learning and, if they do not know it, to keep them faithfully at it.

For I well remember the time, indeed, even now it is a daily occurrence that one finds rude, old persons who knew nothing and still know nothing of these things, and who, nevertheless, go to Baptism and the Lord's Supper, and use everything belonging to Christians, notwithstanding that those who come to the Lord's Supper ought to know more and have a fuller understanding of all Christian doctrine than children and new scholars.

However, for the common people we are satisfied with the three parts, which have remained in Christendom from of old, though little of it has been taught and treated correctly until both young and old who are called and will to be Christians, are well trained in them and familiar with them.

These are the following:

First. THE TEN COMMANDMENTS OF GOD.

 1. Thou shalt have none other gods before Me.

 2. Thou shalt not make thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters beneath the earth:Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate Me, And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love Me and keep My commandments.

 3. Thou shalt not take the Name of the LORD thy God in vain: for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh His Name in vain.

4.Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee. Six days thou shalt labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates; that thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest as well as thou. And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and that the LORD thy God brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and by a stretched out arm: therefore the LORD thy God commanded thee to keep the sabbath day.

5. Honour thy father and thy mother, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

6. Thou shalt not murder.

7. Thou shalt not commit adultery.

8. Thou shalt not steal.

9. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

10. Thou shalt not desire thy neighbour's wife, neither shalt thou covet thy neighbour's house, his field, or his manservant, or his maidservant, his ox, or his ass, or any thing that is thy neighbour's.

Secondly. THE CHIEF ARTICLES OF OUR FAITH.

1. I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.

2. And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary; suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.

3. I believe in the Holy Ghost, the holy Christian Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Thirdly. THE PRAYER, OR "OUR FATHER," WHICH CHRIST TAUGHT

Our Father who art in heaven.

1. Hallowed be Thy name.

2. Thy kingdom come.

3. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

4. Give us this day our daily bread.

5. And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.

6. And lead us not into temptation.

7. But deliver us from evil. [For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory, forever and ever.] Amen.

OF BAPTISM.

Go ye and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. So much is sufficient for a simple person to know from the Scriptures concerning Baptism. In like manner, also, concerning the other Sacrament in short, simple words, namely the text of St. Paul [1 Cor. 11, 23 f.].

OF THE SACRAMENT Our Lord Jesus Christ, the same night in which He was betrayed, took bread; and when He had given thanks, He brake it, and gave it to His disciples and said, Take, eat; this is My body, which is given for you: this do in remembrance of Me.
After the same manner also He took the cup, when He had supped, gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it; this cup is the new testament in My blood, which is shed for you for the remission of sins: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of Me.

Thus, ye would have, in all, five parts of the entire Christian doctrine which should be constantly treated and required [of children] and heard recited word for word. For you must not rely upon it that the young people will learn and retain these things from the sermon alone. When these parts have been well learned, you may, as a supplement and to fortify them. Lay before them also some psalms or hymns, which have been composed on these parts, and thus lead the young into the Scriptures, and make daily progress therein.

However, it is not enough for them to comprehend and recite these parts according to the words only, but the young people should also be made to attend the preaching, especially during the time which is devoted to the Catechism, that they may hear it explained and may learn to understand what every part contains, so as to be able to recite it as they have heard it, and, when asked, may give a correct answer, so that the preaching may not be without profit and fruit.

*Confession of sins before and to God the Father by the Name of the Lord Jesus the Christ is required with full repentence in the understanding to put forth absolute effort to not repeat them, and,  Profession of Jesus as thee only begotten Son of God, by Whom only you are saved from your sins to gain adoption to the Spiritual Family of God in the Body of Christ, is basis of Christian life mortal in the Law and Christian Grace immortal in the Gospel.

A Christian must discipline themselves to be devoted in training in reading the Bible, praying to God and then every moment waking and sleeping trying to live a Godly life which is moral.
Train yourselves with prayer and Scripture, and by asking the Holy Ghost to guide you, you will begin the transformation from sinner, to reluctant sinner, to soul transformed to Spiritual child of God.

The disciples were three years taught by Christ. Let each diligently daily begin the life in Christ with a focus upon Faith in God and the Faith in all He taught for each of us to believe.

Appendix I

How a Father Should Teach His Household to Conduct Morning and Evening Devotions.

Morning Devotions As soon as you get out of bed in the morning, you should bless yourself with the sign of the Holy Cross and say: May the will of God, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit be done! Amen.

Then, kneeling or standing, say the creed and pray the Lord's Prayer. If you will, you may then pray this little prayer as well: My Heavenly Father, I thank You, through Jesus Christ, Your beloved Son, that You kept me safe from all evil and danger last night. Save me, I pray, that you will keep me safe today from every evil and danger last night. Save me, I pray, that you will keep me safe today from every evil and sin as well,, so that all I do and the way that I live will please you. I put myself in your care, body and soul and all that I have. Let Your holy Angels be with me, so that the evil enemy will not gain power over me. Amen.

After that, with joy go about your work and perhaps sing a song inspired by the Ten Commandments or your own thoughts.

Evening Devotions

When you go to bed in the evening, you should bless yourself with the sign of the Holy Cross and say: May the will of God, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit be done! Amen.

Then, kneeling or standing, say the creed and pray the Lord's Prayer. If you will, then you may pray this little prayer as well: My Heavenly Father, I thank You, through Jesus Christ, Your beloved Son, that You have protected me, by Your grace. Forgive, I pray, all my sins and the evil I have done. Protect me, by Your grace, tonight. I put myself in your care, body and soul and all that I have. Let Your holy angels be with me, so that the evil enemy will not gain power over me. Amen. After this, go to sleep immediately with joy.

*The word "wish" has been changed to WILL in this, as wishing is a spell cast and not to be done by a Christian in even common speech, for a Christian has will and a sure outcome in Christ Who commands this and in Him we command the best for us in the Will of God be done. Amen and Amen.
