Iraq does not need Obama, US airstrikes or the cartel to fend off their terrorists. General Cherry would simply throw out a blocking force, which would concentrate the terrorists on a front.
The terrorists are going to confine themselves to approach roadways.
All you do is pick something beside the Green Zone and Baghdad by the big river. Make it a concentration point as a bridge in their rear, the river to the sides and a funnel of buildings they could not get through.
Block this in the front, and as they concentrate, you just unleash Saddam's old artillery which he has a plentiful supply of.
It is called crossing the T in you set down a line of artillery fire in the front, and walk it back to the center.
Then at the bridge end which you blow, you walk the artillery back to the center and obliterate all terror life forms.
Nothing to do it in the least, old and cheap firepower, which is click accurate and one obliterates the problem in about 10 minutes with a rapid firepower wave.
Nothing high tech or spectacular but it handles the situation. Just the thing for a delightful game of human chess that adults would like to play.
