The world really has no notice of the Baltic states and usually confuses them with the Balkans which are in south central Italy.
The Baltic states are in heritage, Finland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. They are a different breed of people than Slavs, and were ruled basically by either invading Poles, Germans or Russians, all their lives.
For as peaceful as these people are, the are literal wolves when it comes to fighting. The Finns threw off and savaged the communists for their freedom and in this short history of December 1918, when the communists invaded Estonia.
Estonia was a people of a little over a million. Half of them were poor farmers. It was said by Herbert Hoover that the American Continentals under General Washington at Valley Forge were better fed, clothed and armed than the Estonians.
The Estonians though met the communist hordes of Russia with some volunteers of White Russians, Swedes, Finns and Latvians, thrashed the Red Army in February 1919, to the extent that they were free until the ravages of World War II started.
Estonia is about the size of Maryland and yet like all the Baltic peoples only asked for the weapons to fight and no outside armies.
These peoples deserve so much credit for who they are, and it is pure insult in the Ukraine chess game and charges by the Obama regime that Putin is threatening them, as the Russians know full well from Finland south to Lithuania, exactly what is in those lands and what awaits them if they cross that frontier.
They are the most American of European peoples in rugged individualism.
