To Wander

As another Lame Cherry exclusive in matter anti matter.

In Matthew chapter 22, there are several amazing teachings from Jesus, in both eluding traps by the Jews in power to murder him by Roman authority, and in his answers to the Sadducee who did not believe in the Resurrection.

It is their story which is interesting in one word, as these were intellectual giants of the age, and where the Pharisees were obsessed with killing people for not obeying the law to the last washing of their hands to the Sadducee, enslaving people with their worthless intellect.

24 Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
25 Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had married a wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife unto his brother:
26 Likewise the second also, and the third, unto the seventh.
27 And last of all the woman died also.
28 Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her.
29 Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.
30 For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.
31 But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying,
32 I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

I started this looking at verse 29 as it was a featured Bible verse on my start up page, and in that verse is the great condemnation of the intellectuals by Christ, as they were destroyed by their own words.

It is focused on the words YE DO ERR.

29Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

The word is planao, and is pronounced,  plan ah o. The meaning in Greek is to cause to wander, to wander. That is an amazing Truth from Christ, in He told these intellectuals trying to entrap Him, were actually convicting themselves before God, in they were joining themselves to eternal death as they would become what they believed, because they had wandered from the Way of Life.

These brilliant people's minds, their trust in their reasoning, their intellect, their genius, instead of trusting in God in Faith was creating an eternal grave for them, because they had wandered from the teaching, the Truth which God had provided them.

planao: to cause to wander, to wander.

The reality is how many of us in this life get ourselves into trouble when we wander from the boundaries God protects us with in His teachings. We think we can play with sin, entertain sins that please us, because we can handle it, or we convince ourselves from satan whispers that if we just do it once, do it a few times, we can get away free, as we are after all children of God protected and are superior to all of those other people as God loves us best, and of course we are protected more than those other Christians, as we know so much more.........
We never finish that sentence, but it is the reality that we believe we know more than God.

I have undertaken sin in distress, because I thought I knew more than God, and I paid to almost my eternal life. Moses struck the rock in the wilderness numerous times, because in one moment he thought he knew more than God. Peter jumped out of a boat in a storm, because he knew more than God and had to be saved by that same God or he would have drown. The Bible is full of people in all sorts of sins from David in adultery to Esther thinking she was more precious than others, and all learned to their peril that they had wandered from God and God was there to bring them back.

To cause yourself to wander is the real definition in this, the true conviction of the rebellion, because each of us has made a choice that we can take a short cut, or we are more intelligent than God, that we can handle sin or that we really do not need God, and God owes us as we are so wonderful. It never takes long for Christians before our decisions cause real upheaval in our lives, and in the unsaved, what seemed like just one drink in a bar, one lie to your spouse, one thing taken credit for........and suddenly it is a few years down the road and the conscience is seared, and there is not one thought in all the lies they tell themselves as now it is a pint of whiskey at night, a divorce and they are robbing their old parents.....as their parents of course want them to have all those nice things as their parents who trusted them are bankrupted.

Cain was warned by God to not let sin couch in his heart. Judas went for the bank account, instead of counting on the real treasure in Christ. We always think we know better and we always have an excuse.

There are far too many people who think by satan that if they read the Bible in Hebrew or Greek, that makes them better Christians, but in all that knowledge, they have lost the simple command of God to hearken to God and obey Him, and to hear and obey is to be caring about others. There is only room for one genius in the walk with God, and that is God and you are the mud He formed, and the good thoughts in you come from God, and the self centered thoughts are you believing satan.

The path to God is always there to walk back to. He knows the Way, the Truth and the Life, and that which you figure out is you wandering lost, in lies and in death. The path to God and eternal Life is narrow, because there is only room for two in Jesus in front leading you and you following behind.

You are either going to be led by Christ to Life or wander to your death.
