Oh Little Star of Bethlehem

As another Lame Cherry exclusive in matter anti matter.

I have not been much for Christmas this year, even less than most years with death of mom and all the money things going on here. TL though has been good to me in my presents have been things TL downloaded in Christmas things to watch. Tonight it was The Little Drummer Boy.
I really liked that Jose Ferrer was a lead voice as he is one of my favorite actors, and the story always make me cry.

As I was watching the show, I started considering the Star of Bethlehem. I know that God is a God of miracles and all things with Him are miracles. I also know there is a miracle in a God Who could have created the Star of Bethlehem as a comet, which would have transversed from the Zoroastrians of Israelite exile Persia, to rest over Judea.
Remember the story in they came to Herod the Great asking where the King was.

Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared.

Matthew 2:7

Let me correct that as Matthew and the Wisemen do not say the star moved. Instead they state "We have seen His star". That would be explained in, they observed a star appear in a constellation which would be associated with the House of Judah, meaning a sign that a King was to be born of great importance.

I have always believed these were Israelites in exile who knew of the Prophecy of a Messiah of the Tribe of Israel, the One spoken of by Isaiah and David, the One everyone knew of as common knowledge.

Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.

Matthew 2:2

King Herod and all Jerusalem are troubled by the news that people who studied the stars stated a sign was in heaven that a king was born to replace Herod and rule over them. It was Herod who discovered that it was Bethlehem was the location they were seeking.

Remember now that the shepherds had been at Bethlehem on the night of the birth and had told everyone that Angels had appeared to them, announcing the birth, and all had been exactly as the Angels foretold. It would not have been that difficult for the Wisemen to locate a child as everyone would have been well aware of this birth, so they easily found the Christ child.

So the miracle does not require me to do mathematical calculations of comet speed, position in sky, rotation of earth, and season of September in tilt of the earth to follow this star. The verses plainly state there was a sign in the sky, and is deduced it was a comet or perhaps a nova in perhaps Leo for the tribe of Judah, and the Israelites in exile deducing this was the sign of the coming King, went to Jerusalem, asked where the King was, which the Jews had no idea of, and upon inquiring Herod learned from the priests the Scripture said the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem Judea.

In most ways, the greater miracle was getting people to do what was needed, not the stars.

Do not forget the outcome of the Wisemen, in God warned them to not tell Herod, and Herod in fear and fury, ordered the holocaust of all the babies 2 years old and younger in the region. The slaughter of the innocents. For a reality, it seems only John the Baptist and Jesus were the surviving males of that year.

Maybe the other signs God is showing for the return of Christ, should not have you thinking you need a brass band on planet sized comet to alert you to things which are at work.
