Panbrot

As another Lame Cherry exclusive in matter anti matter.

The Dutch have this monstrous, custard thing called Dutch Pan Breakfast, that simply is something that looks good, but like all things Dutch is Dutch non treat.

The following is Panbrot, a find German Pan Bread for your supper which assembles in about 15 minutes and bakes in around 30.

3 eggs
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/ cup milk

Mix

Dice up 1 sweet bell pepper. I like yellow for this recipe, and add half the diced pepper to the batter.

Mince 1/4 onion
Mince 1/2 pound of ham

Butter or spray an 8 by 8 cooking pan. God provided me a glass Pyrex 8 x 8 from the thrift store for a dollar, and it is a lovely pan for this.

Pour in batter, sprinkle onion, ham, the other half of the diced pepper on top.

Place as much spiced brown mustard as you prefer on this, as you would on a sandwich.

Top with cheddar cheese. I used both Cheddar and Parmesan as that is all I had.

Bake until slightly browned. The batter will look a nice brown like the cheese when done.

I only had fridge cukes to go with this, but a naughty salad would be lovely with this. A naughty salad would be something like spinach, red lettuce, with perhaps a blue cheese combined with something sweeter in a French dressing, a few  baby tomatoes, lovely sunflower nuts on top, even croutons.

You do not want the spunk of the Panbrot to be lost with like spikes in the salad. You want different flavors, competing and cleansing, not eradicating each other.

I would prefer a nice Jewish wine, like a Mogan David, as you do not want the sour which would not cleanse as with steak, but make this all foul.

Any way that is Lame Cherry Panbrot, makes 4 to 6 servings. 6 it will squeeze through if you have perhaps a garlic bread toast to fill up space, need more air than something solid in this.
