The Holy Ghost provided me the following lesson to study in what I would call irony of the People of God's Eye as we of Protestant Christianity are always informed of in Jews are the Apple of God's Eye, when the Bible says nothing of the sort.
The Bible states all 13 tribes are the Apple of God's Eye, not just Judah.
Read though what the Prophet Jeremiah records in a conversation with the Babylonian appointed King named Zedekiah.
Zedekiah was appointed king, because the last king rebelled against Babylonian rule which was humane for that era. Zedekiah though had a number of problems with his Jews, as his sons were plotting against him as were the people. Anyone who brought a message which was reasonable in placating the Babylonians would be murdered.
That is where this starts as Jeremiah the Prophet had been warning the Jews that Judgment from God was coming. For this, he was thrown into a sewer as a prison to die. Jeremiah plead to the King to be removed out unless he died. The King though had a proposition in he wanted to hear what the Prophet of God had to say. Jeremiah the Prophet though told the King, "You are not going to like what I have to say, and you are going to hand me over to the other leaders and they will murder me".
King Zedekiah though promised that he would not hand Jeremiah the Prophet over. So Jeremiah the Prophet of God informed the King again to surrender to the Babylonians as they would be benevolent to him, his family and Jerusalem, because the Babylonians had not invested all the money and time to breaking Jerusalem. The King heard this and replied, "I do not want to go out to the Babylonians because Jewish traitors are in the Babylonian camp and the Babylonians will hand me over to them to treat me very bad".
Jeremiah the Prophet assured the King that this would not happen, but if the King did not surrender, the Babylonians would break down the walls, turn Jerusalem into rubble, enslave everyone and put Zedekiah into prison.
The King would not answer, but told Jeremiah the Prophet to tell the Princes when they came to question him as to what the King and he had spoken of, to say that it was a plea for more lenient prison conditions. The ruse worked and no one suspected a thing.
Then King Zedekiah said to Jeremiah, “I am in fear of the Jews who have deserted to the Chaldeans, for they may hand me over to them, and they will abuse me.”
The Jews have always been their worst enemy. In Jesus time it was the Jews who were causing the problem of an insurrection. In the holocaust it was financier Jews who sold their ghetto dwellers into slavery, and used the propaganda of 6 million dead Jews in blaming German Nazis to get a nation they now occupy.
What happened in Jerusalem because Zedekiah was afraid of his own Jewish children and his Jewish traitors is after a famine in the city, the Babylonians were about to enter. Zedekiah and his princes fled by breaking a hole in the wall. This was discovered, they were pursued and captured, and there at a place called Riblah, the emperor Nebuchadnezzer passed judgment on them, in the sentence was Zedekiah watched all of his sons put to death, and the least thing he witnessed was that, before the Babylonians scooped his eyes out, and he was hauled back to Babylon to be put into prison.
The Jews are a group of intrigue. They were time and again shown favor by the nations God chose to punish them for their debauchery and rebellion against God, and every time, the Jews initiated an insurrection which ended up leveling the city and destroying the Temple.
Those are the Biblical historical facts. Jews sinned, were provided lenient punishment by the nations God sent to correct them, and the Jews immediately betrayed those nations and made things an absolute holocaust for their lesser peoples of the ghetto.
