I have been studying the benefits of creating a wood alcohol distiller for fuel which was kindly shared with me, but in the process, my cousin sent me a video which was speaking about a Wood Gasifier. When wood burns, it does not burn clean, and the gases produced, are combustible.
Numbers of these gasifiers were built in fuel shortages of World War II, and FEMA has a manual on how to build a down draft gasifier which is a improvement. I will post the links here for the PDF files as blogger will not allow them to upload here.
For those who have heard of the rocket stoves, what this gasifier is, is an inefficient version of this stove which burns hot to burn up these vapors. This requires some intelligence and engineering skills, but if you can follow plans, which you can, you will not be held hostage to fuel when it disappears.
Numbers of electric generators run off of propane already. That is all this is basically, in instead of hooking up a 20 pound tank, you instead start a fire, filter the vapors, and making a crude carburetor with a throttle, feed those gases into a combustion engine.
This is a project I intend to undertake when I have time. In WWII these things were made of cobbled together junk and they worked. With the cartel making you sell your kidneys for a tank of gas, this is an alternative to produce fuel from any dry combustible material.
Auburn University was working with an Alabama livestock farmer on the Keith design and he set a land speed record with this gasifier and stated he got 5000 miles to the cord of wood or something.
You are going to have to look for alternatives. The wood alcohol fuel is of benefit as you can bottle it and store it. It takes a distilling process though and fuel to convert wood to alcohol. With the gasifier, the reality is that the vapors are not readily storeable, but the process is more fuel efficient.
You are going to have to learn to adapt, because the cartel is by force changing the world which made you independent to one which you are a slave.
