I was reading a statement by former Russian President, Dimitry Medvedev, who was responding to a former United States General who advise that NATO sink the Black Sea Fleet if Russia used nuclear weapons in Ukraine.
Medvedev was not impressed and I would prefer that people would think of things before they spoke.
If NATO were to sink the Black Sea Fleet, Russia would sink every ship in NATO.
The United States has invested a great deal of money in the dinosaurs of aircraft carriers to project power. Russia has not invested that much in it's Navy. In cost terms it would be the most ill conceived strategy to make this a naval war with Russia.
Russia has hypersonic missiles, Bill Clinton had Boeing fix their Sunburn to make it accurate and Russia has numerous as does China now which are aircraft carrier killers. It is the hyper speed or shockwave which shatters these large ships. More than that, one missile would kill all 5000 people by shock to their systems.
Sinking the Black Sea Fleet for America would be cutting your nose off to spite your face. Sort of like starting a proxy war in Ukraine to dismantle Russia and not figuring that it is going to come back and bite you in the ass.
Then again Frank Roosevelt sank all them battleships at Pearl Harbor to start a world war that America did not want to be involved in. Holocaust a bunch of Slavs in Ukraine for Jewry, and then sink that Black Sea Fleet and sink the US aircraft carriers and you could get yourself a real war for profit, nuclear and star wars too boot.
There are lots of people who are playing with loaded guns in this, who are sure the Russians ain't going to use them. Last time I checked though Russia was pulling the trigger allot in Ukraine already.
