When it absolutely, positively, will get there, sometime, maybe.
As another Lame Cherry exclusive in matter anti matter.
Existed in the remote of the Brier Patch, I'm often forced to locate things online. Like ass wipe locally is 26 dollars for the rolls and I can get them delivered free for 19. That purchase only makes sense in saving that much money.
The things I can not get from JYG like an extra chainsaw or whatever like a Greek Mahabharata movie, come from Greece.
So the other week, I decided I need to stock up on some survival stuff again as the prices locally were 5 bucks a box compare to what I found online. Nicely, the store chain had an outlet 150 miles away and even with shipping.........it was cheaper to order, so I ordered.
I finally checked on the shipment as I knew it had been sent right away. That is when I was stunned at where my package was.
See Fed Ex, UPS, USPS and others have a system of hubs where things are shipped and then regionally are sorted and put into the trucks again. I like watching things being shipped as it educates me on how this entire system is set up. It is how germs are spread and it is how things are efficient or not so.
For example I live in a border area, so the USPS is set up in these mail sorting area hubs. My sister used to live in the next communist state, 50 miles away. It would take an our to drive there. When I mailed a card.....it took a week, because of these blind spots in the system, as the letter would go to our local hub, then to the main hub, then to the communist hub, then to their local hub, then to the town she lived. It took a week.
Enter Fed Ex and my package. So it left the store in a big metro, it went to the shipping hub apparently in that state. Then it went 700 miles in the opposite direction. As that was the sorting hub. Then it came back to not my states sorting hub, but the communist hub. It then went to the commie pinko main hub in that state, and came back my way to our main Fed Ex hub which then shipped to our "local" hub which is 50 mile away. The package has been marooned there for 2 days, I figure it will be into next week as there are storms and our roads are not exactly open.
In a rough figure of this, my package which in another shipper which is in that metro takes 3 days to get here by USPS as it is just 150 miles, is going to take weeks and has traveled around 2500 miles. This is a blind spot in Fed Ex's shipping. It makes no sense, but in corporate they worked this out that way, and no one has ever caught this or if they have, no one cares about the middle of nowhere people in it takes as long to get things as Libby Custer ordering shoes out of Chicago.
Her tales of mail order were priceless in she would order a pair of shoes. She would wait for weeks and months, and finally one day the package arrived on wagon in Kansas. She would open it...and there would be one shoe inside. See weight mattered on teamster wagons, so packages were broke up in contents.
She would then pack the shoe under her cot, get it out daily in wearing it out in mournfully looking at it, put it away and wonder where the other shoe was and when it would arrive if ever. Perhaps a month later, the other shoe would appear and she would have a pair to wear, one more wear worn in her looking at it daily in despair.
At least my package is together, sitting in the shipping hub, showing that HAARP weather bombs have shut down the deliveries in America, making thing worse for all, but at least my items will have visited 4 states and gone 2500 miles before they get here, so they will most likely enjoy just staying home here and being on the shelf.
