All of us have had a passing indoctrination of the Angel of Death, the Grim Reaper, as it appeared in Dicken's Christmas Carol as the spirit of the future which showed death if the shadow of things did not change. But for Holy Ghost reasons,

Enough people saw the angels involved in this that they were afraid, and David was told to build an altar on the threshingfloor of Onan as part of this, which was part of Temple Mount I believe.
The Lame Cherry is going to take you through word study in this, as it is important to understand the Scripture, as there are in fact two angels present in this. I had made the mistake in study previously, that only the Angel of the Lord, Who is Jesus was involved. That is not the case.
Relative to similar concepts of such beings, Azrael holds a benevolent role as God's angel of death; he acts as a psychopomp, responsible for transporting the souls of the deceased after their death. In Islam, he is said to hold a scroll concerning the fate of mortals, recording and erasing their names at their birth and death, similar to the role of the Malakh ha-Maveth (Angel of Death) in Judaism.
The following verse in the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel is where this all begins, as the word angel is used three times, but has different meanings. The word MALAK means messenger which is what Angels are. I will state also that it is difficult to know for certain if we are dealing with Angels or demons in context.
In a later recording during Ahab's time, God asks who will go and move Ahab to his death. There are spirits who appear, but one comes forward who says he will be a lying spirit in the mouths of the false prophets to entice Ahab to his death. That was probably a demon as they do appear in Heaven as satan does come before God after walking through the earth as Job records.
So bear in mind, the word angel may in some instances be a demon carrying out a murderous mission against sinners or those who rejected God.
A Plague on Israel
14So the LORD sent a plague upon Israel, and seventy thousand men of Israel fell dead. 15Then God sent an angel to destroy Jerusalem, but as the angel was doing so, the LORD saw it and relented from the calamity, and He said to the angel who was destroying the people, “Enough! Withdraw your hand now!” At that time the angel of the LORD was standing by the threshing floor of Ornan the Jebusite.
In the above Scripture we find, three different terms being utilized. The MALAK is this angel sent by God to kill people in mass over sin as it appears like their later decendents, the original Israelite 13 tribes were arrogant and full of themselves and were glorifying themselves.
MALAK is then renamed in context as UKAHAKATH, which means a messenger to destroy. Notice this is different from the demon who comes out of the pit in the End Times, named abaddon, or destroyer.
After this first messenger is told to stop the mass executions, another Angel in UMALAK or Angel of the Lord, or Jesus as the Word of God before He took on human form is there.
Notice too in this that the Angel of the Lord is there. He could very will be protecting His creation from death.

When the owner of the threshing floor saw the angel, HAMMALAK, who might be Jesus, he hid, but a derivative of the name UMALAK appears.

In the below quote, it is vital to differentiate in what we all read, as in Isaiah the Prophet, this MALAK ADONAI, meaning God's Angel or Jesus Who manifested as a human around 2 thousands years ago to bring Salvation to all who choose to return to God, is at war, just like with the Heavenly host of Angels, He appears on a White Horse at Armageddon. In this reality, Christ is protecting His children, that means the Lost 10 who America is a part, from Assyrians, who are modern Germans in Europe.
Jesus is Lord of the Battle, but He fights for God, not for human causes as He informed Joshua when they met. In a miracle Jesus killed 185,000 Assyrians in their camp, so Israel who was weak did not have to fight.

The Prophet Elisha showed his servant by asking God to open his eyes to what he saw, a mountain filled with Angels with fiery chariots in battle against an enemy. There is allot going on for God's Christians all the time and this continues on.
The message formulates that Jesus fights for God and God's own. Other angels do kill off even evil masses of evil people embedded in God's heritage or if that heritage becomes a majority polluted by iniquity that no redemption is possible.
Remember God had Elijah appoint, Hazeal, Jehu and Elisha to destroy the evil in Israel. Yes bad people, failed people and good people, all as extensions with Angels and demons, depending on who they are.
I doubt a chance shot struck Ahab and wounded him to death. The archer's hand and aim was helped.
This does seem complicated in how the Father directs things, but this is part of the mystery of God, that people will never understand as the Thoughts of God are above anything we can comprehend. It comes down to Jesus is always there with the Host to fight and protect for you. Other spirits are there to deceive and even kill evil people who are in the causing problems for God's plans. God easily raises up a Nebuchadnezzar to deal punishment on apostate children, and after that is conducted, God will avenge His children by dealing with Babylon.
I believe I know why the Holy Ghost directed me to re educate myself on the details of all of this as this has been something connected to question in why evil and hurtful people are not removed or dead. I more fully understand now in Scripture study in those in the spiritual in what they do to complete the Will of God.
