As another Lame Cherry exclusive in matter anti matter.
In having become one the greatest experts on the longest running series on television in Gunsmoke, I have a few things to say. First, it was miscast. Horrid casting.
This is Chester, some gimp, that never had a gun, all he did was eat, masturbate on women and shit. Really was a drag on the show. I am surprised that Gunsmoke survived having Dennis Weaver on it. He was repulsive.
The show dragged so they had to hire Burt Reynolds as a half breed Injun. They had no idea what to do with pussy candy and Burt kind of faded about the same time as Chester disappeared without a mention.
Then they got in this Thad as the pussy wetter. He was dumber than Chester and not as wet vulva as Burt. I do not know how long he lasted, but thankfully he did not last.
Maybe not thankfully as this is what replace Thad. Newly O'Brien. Talk about a puss. You always wondered what this light weight was doing on the show as he was just a fem. The reason he was on there is his name is Buck Taylor. His dad was Dub Taylor a wonderful character actor that appeared in allot of westerns, and he could stand in a scene with the monumental John Wayne. He was a wonderful screen presence.
Now we come to the real weaknesses in why all that other stuff was plugged and did not play.
The first miscast was James Arness as Matt Dillon. That was really bad casting. I think the reason they had so many faggot sidekicks is because Arness did not want men around stealing his cock allure to the women. Show wasted with limp sidekicks who acted like little boys about to be beat up all the time.
Who should have been cast is either Robert Lansing........
or John Drew Barrymore. Both brought a different genesequa to their roles, They both were spectacular actors who were too much under utilized.
Then we come to Amanda Blake. She was like cast of bad actresses. She was like a cute little thing her firsr season, but then she got old and older each scene.........smoker raspy voice. She just was weak in everything.
Tina Louise from Gilligan's Island would have shown as she was playful, interesting, beautiful and strong as an actress. She held her own against the biggest camera fillers there ever were in the Skipper and Thruston Howell III. She should have been Miss Kitty.
Another actress who could have pulled the role off with a softer touch was Ann Margaret. She still had strength and command. I don't care if she was probably too young when this all started. She still would have been interesting in the role. Probably would not have gotten raped as often as Kitty did. That woman had no sense or no guns when it came to Amanda Blake to protect her twat.
What was right about Gunsmoke was Milburne Stone as Doc. He really was everything the character could have been and more. I know of other actors I would have liked, but they would not have done what Doc could do as Milburne Stone.
Last is the absolute par excellence actor in Ken Curtis as Festus Hagen. I first saw the Festus prototype in Have Gun Will Travel. The Arness Company stole that character and Curtis added to it. I did not make any difference in Ken Curtis could play off kids, mules, women, tough guys, weak guys, get beat up, do the beating, do comedy, do serious and you could watch him.
The biggest piss in the porrage was Arness was always leaving him in Dodge instead of taking him along. We know why because Festus would have dominated every scene.
So what Gunsmoke should have been is Robert Lansing, Tina Louise, Milburne Stone and Ken Curtis.
Then again, look how Gene Roddenberry fucked up Star Trek in the pilot. that awful Jeffrey Hunter, Spock was weak like his appearances on Gunsmoke, horrid women no one wanted to hump, and the only bright spot was the guy who played the original doctor, John Hoyt, who did allot of work on Hogans Heroes and I loved him there. He would have been weak compare to Milburne Stone in Gunsmoke, but I did consider him for the role as Doc.
Howard McNear would have been able to pull of Doc's role in his own equal way if had been given the chance.
So that is the critique and review of Gunsmoke. In most ways, they should have stayed with the original radio cast, because even they had faces for television for the voices they had for bringing radio characters to life.
Georgia Ellis as Kitty and Parley Baer as the Deputy
It should have met the Lame Cherry Standard.
