The Camera adds pounds to a Girl

As another Lame Cherry exclusive in matter anti matter.

I'm a gun snob, but being poor, I have become practical in the guns I'm forced to purchase are affordable and usually come out of Turkey, and they are serviceable as in the 12 gauge we picked up for home defense early last year.

I happened upon a Charter Arms Bulldog, I think it was several years before this in 38 special and I would sneer at it, and yet recently in pondering a 380 in 1911 model, I sort of swerved toward a carry gun like a number of women have in the 32 Harrington and Richardson Magnum, which was an HR stunt back in the last 70's which did not save the company. I think Federal now has a 327 magnum based on this which is like all these worthless magnums in gun tearing noise, sharp snapping recoil and only appreciated by people who like torturing themselves.

The 32 began life in the Civil War century as the 32 short, then went to the 32 long and stayed that way until HR dreamed up a longer casing. The thing is, I always marvel at the hundreds of thousands of people who got killed in America in wars and self defense with mini balls and black powder, which took the intent of harm out of most of them immediately, and there was no magnum blowing around.

I think the New York Police back in the day all carried the 32. It was a law enforcement cartridge and killed allot of bad guys. They upgraded to the 38 Special, which was the law enforcement choice for years, and the FBI stats proved that the 158 grain semi wadcutter or the FBI load killed more people than all of the Dirty Harry magnums combined. For the record, the load that Dirty Harry shot by John Miluis was the 44 Special, as the cops did not want to have the round blowing though people. Charter Arms still makes the 44 Special and it is a fine load of led, moving at moderate speeds, which takes the fight out of criminal attackers.

If you read people who actually have the 32, in women, and the men in their lives, they love this cartridge and load. Charter makes a girly model and it makes the Professional pictured above. The picture makes the gun and loads appear more hefty, when this is a small frame revolver and a 32 load......even though when you look at the muzzle of a Professional, there is a allot of metal there which makes a 32 diameter hole look like it is a huge cavern of death.

The 32 is for defense, and honestly Magtech turns out a fine semi jacketed hollow point which will expand at slow speeds. I never intend to shoot any person. My purpose in carrying a firearm is to first, ALWAYS BE AWARE OF MY SURROUNDINGS, which diffuses 98% of the problems in life. You can't get into trouble if you are not getting yourself into trouble in most cases. Having a carry gun, though means that, if God forbid something bad shows up, that instead of having to run away, I can back away calmly to safety and safe distances, as running from trouble emboldens most bullies. Being calm is an asset and knowing that there is an option of defense helps calm a situation down not elevate the threat.

The NRA used to have armed citizen posts when I read them, and the fact is that in half the cases of firearms, they never get reported, because the gun simply being known, diffuses the situation. That does not mean pulling the gun as that is where law enforcement starts paying attention, but as law enforcement places their hand on a firearm to signal a process has started, to diffuse situations with the public, that is what the NRA found in half the cases.

I'm not advocating any actions or responses. I'm only stating that for me, this smaller carry gun is there to keep things calm and to calm things down further, the holster appears with my hand on it, with the command of "This stops here!"

Charter had some quality control issues awhile back, but that seems sorted out in the 2020's and you get a good firearm which is reliable. I dislike semi autos as they will jam when you need them. While this Charter carries 7 shots, I will only load 6 and rest the hammer on an empty chamber. I do not want to get shot and I do not want to shoot anyone else. It is my prayer that this never happens.

In playing with this firearm, my observations are that the hammer has to be really cocked back, like Kim Darby was told by John Wayne in True Grit for that Colt Dragoon. The single action trigger pull sets way back in the guard, and is not sticking in the middle like numbers of guns have.........and one must be familiar with their firearm. This one is built for self defense and combat mode.

I really appreciate the weight at 22 ounces in it is not whippy at all, in it does not matter with right or left hand, or right or left eye, this gun centers on target. I was really impressed with the green glow front site, as it seems almost florescent. Even with bad eyesight you can pick it up in a low light room, and the rear "site" which is a cut groove is perfectly wide for the sight window. This is a really well engineered handgun. It fits like a glove on this popular girl

This has an anodized aluminum finish on this one. That means a bit different cleaning.

For clothes, I just use a clip on leather holster. Cheap. I forget about this thing like I do my Old Timer Trapper pocket knife or hammer in the pick up. It is a tool for a purpose.

I have not discussed firearms in awhile and as I like guns, this was an enjoyment for me. I dislike the gun experts as they will tell you get a bigger gun like a 38. Yeah if you want to deal with a situation, leave a handgun in the drawer and get a 12 gauge, so they can stop the bullshit in their caveats as a handgun is the worst tool ever devised for defense.

This though is for my skinny girl who looks fatter in the pictures, as the camera does that to women.
