As another Lame Cherry exclusive in matter anti matter.
Our neighbor gave these to us over Christmas and I'm not into anything really anymore for Christmas treats, but TL said these were really good and \popped one into my mouth and I was stunned enough to ask ,"What is this?"
TL had deduced these were Rollo candies inside a pretzel. So I looked it up ,and that is exactly what they are. I told TL that they were good enough to tell our neighbor they could have a second bottle of Red Eye.
OK I covered this before but I make my German version of Apple Jack or Apfl Hansie which is some kind of cider, cinnamon, vanilla and everclear. This is schnaaps and should not be consumed in quantity as it has a kick to it. I deem it medicinal to put me out when under stress.
I actually from the farm store came upon Peach Cider and that is what I tend to make for us. That would be Pfirsich, kind of pronounced Veerzeek John.
This though is not about my concoctions, but about this very nice treat. The mother used to make almond bark on pretzels, is ok, but I like this Roll thing better by a long shot.
Maybe with the big donations, I can get back to making those Norwegian things like krumkake and those rosette things. Germans in my level of the land really never did a hole lot of treats. The mum's sister was a go getter in lots of things, but we were fortunate if we got Christmas cookies with frosting on them as the mum had no idea about cooking or anything fancy, until I came along and then she had fits about the things I was cooking as "you can not do that". Never listen to a woman who never prepares for a meal and hauls out frozen hamburger, slices it that way and then cooks it up like jerky. I actually to this day prefer this on toast, with mayo, kep, mustard and American cheese.
Enough of the trip down bad food lane. You probably would like these Rollo critters.
