Euclid's 47th German Lutheran Christian

As another Lame Cherry exclusive.

I enjoy by God's Grace a number of things which stir the Spirit in me, and one of them is architecture. In searching through photos for a previous post, I came across a series of German Lutheran Churches.

I have experience with this architecture as my dad once helped build a Church like this. To me they are haunting, imposing, majestic, awful (as in showing reverent fear) and beautiful.

There are the "great" Notre Dames and St. Peter's Cathedrals, but no one ever focuses upon the German Lutheran Church as one of the greatest perfections of Euclidean 47th mathematics in being pleasing to the eye and generating a correct response in the heart.
The great places of worship are cumbersome to me. Many religions have ghastly flat things, glass things or things that look lifeless. The Germans  though of the Israelite clans were like Martin Luther in being Inspired by the Holy Ghost to pure beauty. They simply did not build a Church, but adorned it modestly as an Evangelical message of order, solidity, allure, beauty and pointing to the towering heights of God's Heaven, in where your eyes should be focused at all times........and done so without usurping God or taking Glory from God, but Glorifying God by these masterful architectural triumphs.

Notice the details in these sacred buildings. Notice too that from Russia, Ukraine to America, that all these Churches carry the same theme, but have the influence of the region they are in to add to the beauty in making each building pleasing, whether American stark or Russian gem. They are all a reflection of Protestants defending the Faith in militant Christianity, but looking toward the Heavenly home where their real treasure is stored.
German Lutherans did not need painted frescoes, idol icons or burnished gold, as the message in the Gospel which Jesus the Christ, thee only begotten Son of God, was the beauty, the order of worship and adoration and the True gold which would never be stolen.

I enjoy these Churches and I hope when TL and I build our home when the big donation comes in, that we can infuse some of this  beauty into the facade as a beautiful home is pleasing to the eye. That is important as we were driving by a million dollar mansion on the Sabbath and it is just ugly. TL figured out that it was due to the combination of the wrong mixing of colors in brick in hard and light tones, and the wrong accent on the stone slabs. What is imposing at a first glance, becomes like vomit as one beholds it. It is like most people's faith now........and this is a doo gooder Baptist who imports Mexicans for slave labor in his milking operation, saves dope heads he hires to milk cows........and then levels houses that he buys on farm sites when poor people like phone him up and ask if we could buy that site to not be homeless.
Ugly people inside and ugly mansions on the outside.

These Churches though are a good study in what pleases the eye and why. How colors, height and width, materials, and trims all matter, to make some stand out just a little more as all are imposing as they should be.
