Table of Duties: Citizens

As another Lame Cherry exclusive in matter anti matter.

In Dr. Martin Luther King's table of duties, it is interesting as he lived in a monarchy where no citizen voted, but had the same responsibilities which all peoples do whether they exist in democracies or tyrannies.

It is in the citizen's best interest to support the government they are under, as the government has the ability to turn you into an enemy of the state, as not paying taxes, being disrespectful or serving in the military, are penalized.

The real responsibility for every Christian is to pray for their leaders, from the police to the President, as it is in your interest that the Love and Light of God is within each of these state backed officials, as we often see how much damage is done when they are working for satan, that leaders with their hearts toward God are always interested in Truth, Justice and the Public Good.

Of Citizens

Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s, and to God what is God’s. Matt. 22:21
It is necessary to submit to the authorities, not only because of possible punishment but also because of conscience. This is also why you pay taxes, for the authorities are God’s servants, who give their full time to governing. Give everyone what you owe him: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor. Rom. 13:5–7
I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone—for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior. 1 Tim. 2:1–3
Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good. Titus 3:1
Submit yourselves for the Lord’s sake to every authority instituted among men: whether to the king, as the supreme authority, or to governors, who are sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to commend those who do right. 1 Peter 2:13–14

A prayer is of more value than a vote, as God works outside the ballot box 24 hours a day. Many people are always promising a religious revival which never comes. The fact is that one Gideon accomplished the direction of an entire nation. Having moral leaders is more than just voting, it is the good citizen praying.

Prayer is a duty of the citizen. Just as the duty of the citizen is to be moral, obeying the laws and not a burden on society. A Citizen's duty is not to the government alone, but to fulfill the mandate of loving God first and caring about all others.

Those parts are lost in politics, but the fact is a good depot is far more protective of the people than a corrupt member of Parliament.

Pray for your leaders and obey the laws, as the first benefits you, and the second benefits all the  people of your community.
