Thy Will be Done

As another Lame Cherry exclusive in matter anti matter.

In this study of the Catechism in review of Martin Luther, here am I finding an uplifting, and yet trying work to bring something more to each of you, to bring you closer to God, in revealing more of God to you.

I would this was easy as I am not well in writing this, and of a most heavy heart in disappointment, and yet having to search the Scriptures for each of these Petitions in the Lord's Prayer, I have been enlightened by the Word of the Lord, in ways which are delighting me as I learn more of God in these verses.

Thy Will Be Done, is a most straight forward statement, but what is the Will of the Father in Heaven? Yet as in all things, the Bible explains everything to those who seek. I start this with the Lord praying Thy Will Be Done and not His Will. It is significant as Jesus praying is about His impending death, and if possible He Wills the Father to remove this duty from Him. Jesus does not sin in rebellion, but under the greatest of stress, He prays for God's Will to be done if His there is not any other way than His being put to death.

Matthew 26:42

He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away from Me, except I drink it, Thy Will be done.

That is obedience to God's Will in the ultimate reality. Jesus knows He will have to die for each of our sins, to redeem us to God.
Understand what Jesus prays in this, as it is telling. There is not any pleading or whining. No accusations of why don't you love me, why can't you fix this. Instead Christ makes the statement of, IF THIS JOB DOES NOT PASS FROM ME, AS I AM THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN ACCOMPLISH THIS, THY WILL BE DONE AS I OBEY YOUR WILL.

Jesus is  making a statement of responsibility. He is not in the least trying to remove Himself from this, but is instead stating God's Will in the reality, that if God's Will is not completed, Jesus can not accomplish His death and Resurrection.
This is the dual meaning of Christ's Prayer about Will. The first human inclination is to be Ecclesiastical and think He is trying to get out of doing the Will of God, but in the reality of Proverbial Spiritual reality, He is stating His death Will be accomplished and is praying for God's Will to be done, to accomplish that will.

This was done with ministering Angels, and the Father, but Christ was alone. He was so alone that twice He goes back to the disciples who are sleeping and will not stay up with Him. Three times He prays Thy Will Be Done.

Verse 43

And he came and found them asleep again: for their eyes were heavy.

Verse 44

And he left them, and went away again, and prayed the third time, saying the same words.

What I desire in all of this uncomfortable doom and gloom in none of you think you could adhere to God's Will if it is not all coming up roses and raining candy, is for you to remember the Petitions.

Thy Kingdom come. Thy Will be done.

What is the first thing that comes after Thy Will Be Done in God's Kingdom being established? God providing each of you all of your daily needs, no matter how big, how small, how grande and how base. What follows God's Will  being done is TAKING CARE OF YOU.

Luke 11:3

Give us day by day our daily bread.

This is what Martin Luther notes in the Inspired explanation, in God's Will overcomes your rebellion, your death and your adversary the devil.
God's Will being done is about God providing for you in body and Spirit, just as God did for Jesus every day He was on earth, through the good times and the times when Jesus was left alone of all human companionship and the time He called out on the cross, My God. My God. Why have You forsaken me?

The answer was at that moment, Jesus, the innocent, pure, only begotten Son of God, took upon Himself your sins, my sins, the past sins, the future sins of everyone, and the Father could not look upon Him. God though in His Will does look upon you, because He sees you through the blood or obedience of Christ on that cross. Jesus obeyed and completed the Will of  God, so that you will never have to experience as a Christian God not being there for you.

The Third Petition

Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

What does this mean? The good and gracious will of God is done even without our prayer, but we pray in this petition that it may be done among us also.
How is God’s will done? God’s will is done when He breaks and hinders every evil plan and purpose of the devil, the world, and our sinful nature, which do not want us to hallow God’s name or let His kingdom come; and when He strengthens and keeps us firm in His Word and faith until we die.
This is His good and gracious will.

It is this Will of God which Christ came to fulfill. Not in the incomplete Old Testament or Covenant, in the yearly offering of slain animals upon the Altar, but in the complete Redemption in the Body of Christ slain and blood spilled, to Sanctify every Christian, one time, for all, and always.

Hebrews 10

7 Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.
 8 Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law;
9 Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.
10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

Jesus provided us thee example of God's Will being accomplished in saving each of us who will confess Jesus as Lord. What though is the Will of God fulfilled? Again Christ is thee example. He is the fulfillment of the Law of God. In other words, the Will of God is for you to obey the 10 Commandments completely, so that you will have the benefit of a peaceful life, overflowing with goodness, and all the benefits of an intimate relationship with God as Christ has, and that you will ask God and immediately receive all good things in this world whether Spiritually or bodily.

Psalm 143:10

Teach me to do Thy Will; for thou art my God: Thy Spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.
Keeping that Law, is the outward evidence that you are God's, because you are known as a moral person in your community. Being delighted to be an example of Christ in this world as you discipline yourself in the liberty of life, peace, prosperity, joy and love.
That is the Will of God being done. That each of you is saved by Faith in Christ, and that you regulate yourselves in doing good, and not hurtful and harmful things, so you have a peaceful life in Christ.

Psalm 40:8

I delight to do Thy Will, O my God: yea, Thy law is within my heart.

The Will of God is for you to live your life on the green lawns of His property and not play in the sin of traffic and be run over by cars. Jesus already did that for you in His dying, and He shined up the warning signs of the dangers of the traffic of sin.

For those who have a hard life in having money as their god or in poverty and illness as I experience, satan is always going to make things difficult to get you to doubt God's Will being good, so that you are screaming that God doesn't love you or God doesn't care. God does care or He would not have allowed His Son to be slaughtered for you and God does love you or He would have struck you down with lightning for ranting a lie like that. It is satan that is the adversary and withstands. We though resist satan and it flees from us.

There are a number of good dead people who never got a mansion here, had a good time here, or put together two good healthy days. That is the world and those trials create Spiritual growth as sitting in pews and smiling accomplishes little.

God's Will is to save you and give you good things. Your will is to decided if you believe God and will stay around past the times He does give you good things after you accept His Salvation for free.

This has been a few pages more than Martin Luther provided, but this is what the Scriptures noted and  what I hope the Holy Ghost Inspired me with to help each of you in understanding our God.

For certain, here am I still expecting the good times. All of my garden misery has taught me these years is that God's Will being done all through society and in each life here is the only solution to restoring peaceful lives. We groan at the world of satan and human will in all of the turmoil and uncaring.
It is though always God's Will be done as with Christ in the Garden, because God has a plan on the other side for each of us, as He had for Jesus, beyond what we could ever imagine.

Nuff Said

Isaiah 55

6 Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near:
7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.
9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

11 So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.
12 For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.
