When the Government Beats the Charities
As another Lame Cherry exclusive in matter anti matter.
OK this add popped up as I was having a terrible day in broken computer, cold, snowed in, things not going great and rich people not donating generously. It is the Salvation Army and I had allot of respect for them, but when I looked at this ad that it costs 33 dollars a night to shelter someone, I got to thinking what kind of bullshit is this?
My feed store guy has like 1500 dollars a month to heat his building. The SA has the same type shelters, and if you figure that they have 100 beds, they are saying that it costs 3300 dollars a night for people to sleep there......and the beds and blankets are already paid for.
So what is up with the SA? The numbers are 12,045 dollars a year to have a bum sleep in a bed. That is allot of money. I figure that cities could put up 100 bed cocoon things that locked from the inside, were warmed by the city sewer air blowing out of them and that would be more cost effective in a one time investment.
What kind of money does it cost to watch poor people sleep? Apparently the SA pays very well, because after heating or cooling, there is not even the feeding, and that is not included in the price apparently.
I made enough soup to feed my neighbor like 50 meals, for 7 bucks. So for 14 bucks, they could feed the poor......and as I do the numbers even with people watching the poor, the SA would still be making money at 500 dollars a night for 100 people, with meal included. That is not the SA 99,000 dollars a month expense, but 15,000 dollars as I pay the people in the suits like 5 figures as that is what I would like to be paid if the rich would donate here.
It just all seems off, like the people who told me in that the Red Cross sold donated cigarettes to the GI's and people who needed disaster help got a bill. Not quite the commercials, but why should any bell ringer group be any different from the other.
It is just a pisser of a day. I need money and then I see people putting up ads as charities telling people how much it costs to operate and I am thinking just how bogus all of this is. For once the government housing for poor people actually is cheaper than the charities. That is what is really screwed up in this in the government is doing better than the established charities.
Think about that.
