As another Lame Cherry exclusive in matter anti matter.
I was adding up the rejuvenation of my old man's stock trailer, a 5 by 16 foot old Hale trailer, and for the time that TL and I put into it, most others would have junked it as it would have been cheaper as no one wants to work anymore.
I spent 6 hours, sorting and cutting Redwood at JYG's. It was Redwood tongue and grove plank, 6 inches wide, 5 feet long. You can not get this stuff anymore so it is priceless. His price was 50 bucks. I paid him 60, as the floor would have been over 1500 bucks to 2000 otherwise.
We got pressure treated wood. That was 200 dollars.
There are always incidentals like welding rods, cables (another from JYG at 5 bucks) free stuff as I get things from JYG and he just gives me stuff like bolts, and of course the 30 dollars of carriage and hex head bolts and nuts, washers.
I think we spent 6 hours putting in the floor, another 6 doing the panels, another 5 doing the liner wood. Took me 8 hours to do the partition gate as it was nothing but problems in Nigger Rigging it, and then another 4 hours welding to shore things up. 30 hours at 50 bucks an hour as I am skilled labor, like the best skilled blogger in the world, and that is 1500 bucks in my time, double that with TL.
So I will never get out of this trailer what I put into it. I still have to roof and paint it, which will be more time, probably closer to 50 hours..
It seems to be a solid trailer though now and it will last past Jesus coming back. I would have rather had the money to stick some other person to do that, but no one will do that kind of work anymore, so they just junk their old steel trailers and go for aluminum.
If I put tires on it, which I hope I do not have to, as I think 3 are original, and one is the old man's tire, which was old as the hills too. The spare looks fossilized, but I could drop another 1000 on 12 ply tires, out of China which are worthless shit, and at that not as good as the old stuff that is on there.
Not going to load her down any with a full load of 6 cows. Just will take the time and make the necessary trips.
Still have to put waste oil in the floor as that will oil up everything and JYG sold me a 5 dollar cable and boomer to support the middle interior, I need to cut that yet and put cable clamps on it. Is pricking around little stuff, but that is what projects are.
Lowlights were using the Lincoln arc welder turned up to 225 amps and using it as a cutting torch as I was running out of grinder cutters. Think they call that a plasma cutter when it is in a different package.
So restoring things is not worth the time, labor, exhaustion or money, unless of course you do not have people who donate and think this is all free, until Jesus gives them the bill on Judgment Day, then you have to spend a few hundred dollars to get a trailer that you can haul things with as some rich asshole who said they would sell you their trailer cheap...........forgets, because rich people are always forgetting things like paying bills to poor people in donations or the gem of now they want it because I need it.
I sow it all to God though and I trust God to make it right in my favor.
Time is running out on God restoring you.
